The Best Ways To Keep Hair Loss At Bay
You want your hair to be healthy, beautiful and full for your whole life. Unfortunately this isn't always possible for everyone. Sometimes biology makes us lose our hair and there isn't much we can do about that. Still, if you want to prevent hair loss, there are plenty of things you can do. You might not be able to hold it off permanently but you can keep it at bay for as long as possible and make sure that it takes as long as possible to complete. Here are a few things that you can do to keep your hair on your head and healthy for as long as possible.

Do not brush your hair when it is wet. It is natural that you want to prevent tangles from happening. This is particularly true if you have long hair. Still, brushing your hair while it is wet can stretch it out or even break it. To keep your hair from tangling, you should comb through it. Don't use just any old comb, though. You need to use a wide toothed comb and go slowly and gently. You also shouldn't comb your hair right after you wash it. Squeeze out the excess water and then gently comb through it to keep it from tangling. Do not pull or tug at your hair. Go slowly to keep your hair healthy, intact and in your scalp. You're probably used to toweling your hair at least part of the way dry. Usually what we do is shower, wash our hair and then immediately wrap a towel around it and rub that towel against our hair as quickly and roughly as we can. We think that the friction helps our hair dry more quickly. What this does, however, is stretch out, break or even potentially pull out your hair. Instead, after your shower, squeeze the extra water out of your hair. Do not wring your hair dry. Just squeeze down the strands. Then wrap a towel loosely around it to soak up the excess moisture you couldn't squeeze out.

Use silk or satin (or sateen) pillow cases. Cotton and flannel pillowcases are rough. They might not feel rough to the touch but while you sleep, you toss and turn. This builds up friction, which is bad for the hair. It is also rough on the hair - which gets dragged across the rough threads. Silk or satin (or sateen) pillowcases, however, are smooth. Your hair will just slide across it as you move. This probably sounds pretty silly, but you'll be amazed at how much less hair you find on your pillow in the morning. There are lots of things you can do to prevent hair loss. Some of them are pretty basic while others might feel a little bit complicated and voodoo-like. We've talked about a few of them here in this article. Talk to your stylist and your doctor about other things you can do to keep the hair on your head.
